A Systematic Review on Finger Vein Recognition Techniques Based on Template Matching
Abstract
In the form of a novel biometric approach, finger vein identification has gained much interest and endeavors from researchers, and accomplished some amount of development recently. Finger vein recognition is a technique of biometric authentication, which makes use of pattern-recognition methods that, depends on the images of human finger vein patterns underneath the surface of the skin. Finger vein identification is one among several forms of biometrics helpful in identifying people and validate their identity. Exploring the recognition algorithms is always the key aspect in this domain. Till now, there are several suitable algorithms that have been evolved. But, still few problems exist practically, like the difference of the finger position that may result in the image contortion and shifting; during the recognition process, and few matching parameters decided based on experience may also limit the usefulness of algorithm. The important goal of this work is to evaluate the most advanced methods used in finger vein recognition. This research work provides an elaborate review on the finger vein identification algorithms. Such tools consist of image capture, preprocessing, feature extraction and matching techniques for the extraction and analysis of object patterns. Moreover, few new observations after the significant comparative analysis of the focused methods are listed. The comparative analysis suggests that the accuracy of finger vein identification techniques approaches the standards. Finger vein shows are mark able hope in different applications.
