Grid Connected Wind Energy System with Maximum Power Point Tracking Technique
Abstract
This paper presents a direct driven permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) based Grid Connected Wind Energy System with Maximum Power Point Tracking Technique. The proposed system consists of two back-back insulated gate bipolar transistor (IGBT) based power electronic converters. Wind turbine generates the output optimum speed command for speed control loop of rotor flux oriented vector controlled scheme at the grid side power converter with the instantaneous active power as its input. The optimum reference speed commands tracks the maximum power points from the wind system and are generated in accordance with the variation of active power output due to the change in the command speed generated by the controller. The proposed system is modelled and simulated in MATLAB software using Simulink and Sim Power System set tool boxes.
