Automated Smart Irrigation System for Typical Environment Using IoT
Abstract
Agriculture is the prime source in India. A large amount of agricultural land depends on rainfall for production, which is a traditional practice for farmers to depend on seasonal rainfall for their production needs, which has continuously affected the productivity for very long time. To start with, rain fall distribution is not equitable, with diverse geographic features and regional diversity. Other issues like quantity of rainfall is been uneven. In pursuit of countering these issues, new technological intervention is needed to give an optimal solution to the problems associated to larger sector of work force. Hence it is important to irrigate the plant in a calculated method that is in astute way to get production by maximizing the yield per unit area, by supplying appropriate amount of water at precise time. Objective is to obtain a optimized smart irrigation system using open source platform and controlled centrally. Various sensors are been utilized to monitor the healthiness of plant. Based on the information obtained using the sensors the water supply to the plant is controlled on regular interval both manual and automated methods. The complete system is designed on a web page which supervises the entire system, using cameras and sensors to control the follow of water. Further work is extended to find the leakage in pipelines and control from remote place using IoT, weather prediction as to regulate the quantity of water being administered making the system optimized and more reliable.
