Abstract

Focused on pronominal and demonstrative pronominal anaphora, the paper presents arithmetic of anaphora resolution based on vector resemblance. Vector similarity is used to measure the existence of the co-reference between anaphor and antecedent. Firstly, generate a set of candidate antecedents according to some rules; then compute the resemblance between anaphor and antecedent; finally select an optimal antecedent as the result of anaphora resolution. The method has been implemented and tested, and the result shows that the proposed arithmetic is promising.
