Security and Privacy Challenges in Big Data Storage and Processing on Cloud
Abstract
The proliferation of big data storage and processing on cloud platforms has raised significant security and privacy concerns, necessitating a comprehensive examination of the challenges and potential solutions in this domain. This paper investigates the security and privacy challenges inherent in storing and processing large-scale datasets on cloud infrastructures. We identify various threats and vulnerabilities associated with data storage, transmission, and processing in cloud environments, including unauthorized access, data breaches, and privacy violations. Furthermore, we analyze existing security mechanisms, encryption techniques, access control models, and privacy-preserving technologies that aim to mitigate these risks. Through a critical evaluation of current approaches and case studies, we highlight gaps and limitations in addressing security and privacy concerns and propose potential avenues for future research and development. By fostering a deeper understanding of the complex interplay between big data storage, processing, and security in cloud environments, this study aims to inform practitioners and researchers about effective strategies for safeguarding sensitive data in the era of ubiquitous cloud computing.
