Cost-Effective Data Storage Strategies for Large-Scale Cloud-Based Data Warehouses
Abstract
Effective data storage strategies are essential for large-scale cloud-based data warehouses to manage costs while maintaining performance and scalability. This paper investigates cost-effective data storage strategies tailored for the unique requirements of cloud-based data warehouses handling massive volumes of data. We explore various techniques and technologies for optimizing data storage in terms of cost efficiency, including data compression, tiered storage, columnar storage formats, and data lifecycle management policies. Additionally, we examine considerations such as data access patterns, query performance, and scalability when designing storage solutions for cloud-based data warehouses. Through empirical analysis and case studies, we evaluate the effectiveness of different storage strategies in reducing storage costs without compromising data availability or query performance. Furthermore, we discuss challenges and trade-offs associated with implementing cost-effective storage solutions and propose best practices for achieving optimal balance between cost savings and performance requirements in large-scale cloud-based data warehouses. This study aims to provide practical guidance and insights for organizations and practitioners in architecting and managing cost-effective data storage infrastructures for cloud-based data warehouses.
