Performance evaluation supporting multi-services based on two-dimensional markov chain
Abstract
In wireless communication systems efficient radio resource management (RRM) and call admission control (CAC) strategies are key components to support multiple types of applications with different QoS requirements. Guard Channel (GC) Scheme is one of the handoff priority-based CAC schemes. In this paper, we concentrate on combining or extending of new call bounding scheme and cutoff priority scheme for providing multiple-service. Two generalized analytical models, two-dimensional Markov chain model with multi-threshold for supporting multiple-service, are developed to investigate and compare the system performance of Multi-Guard Channel Schemes (MGCS) with varying traffic loads, mobility ratios and channel occupancy thresholds in broadcast mobile networks. The proposed MGCSs show that the new call bounding scheme indicates that higher priority has higher blocking priority than the lower priority one for providing multiple-service. Besides, for cutoff priority scheme, it has higher blocking priority for lower priority calls which introduces that to determine channel occupancy thresholds well is more difficult for providing multiple-service.
