Harmonic Study on DFIG FED Voltage Source Inverter
Abstract
Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) applied to wind energy conversion system (WECS) using variable speed operation with two level converters or voltage source inverter is being used more frequently in wind turbine application. Variable speed systems have several advantages over the traditional method of operating wind turbines, such as the reduction of mechanical stress and an increase in energy capture. The performances of classical Proportional-Integral (PI), Fuzzy logic controllers are compared with respect to the wind speed variation. Direct vector control with stator flux orientation of the DFIG is used to control the active and reactive powers between the stator and the grid. Harmonic reduction is becoming an important for electricity consumers. This increases the need for harmonics reduction techniques. The main objective of this paper is to find and reduces the individual harmonics and total harmonic distortion and its harmonic contents. The performances of the system was analyzed and compared by simulation using Matlab/Simulink Systems
