A Comparative Analysis of Accurate Fault-Location Algorithm by Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) and Least Error Squares (LES) Technique
Abstract
This paper presents a comparative analysis of Accurate Fault-Location Algorithm by Discrete Fourier Transform (DFT) and Least Error Squares (LES) Technique for a two-end power system model. The non-iterative fault location algorithm is done by using Impedance based technique. The algorithm utilizes unsynchronized measurements of voltages and currents from two ends of the line and is formulated in terms of the fundamental frequency phasors of symmetrical components of the measured signals. First, an analytical synchronization of the unsynchronized measurements is performed with use of the synchronization operator. Then, the distance to fault is calculated as for the synchronized measurements. The algorithm is implemented by using matlab/simulink.
