A novel variable step-size algorithm and its application in wind turbine system simulation
Abstract
A new variable step-size numerical algorithm for implicit integration is presented in this paper. The selection for optimal global step size is divided into three steps. First step is to judge next step size is increased or decreased. The schemes are determined by the difference of output variable value. The second step is to calculate the next step size which can be gotten by the variable coefficient method and the limitation rules. Then, the schemes for choosing the global optimal step size in multi module system is discussed in detail. A 2 MW direct driven wind turbine with permanent magnet synchronous generator is chosen as a verification system, in which this algorithm is applied for computation of the simulation model. The convergence and accuracy are testified by the simulation results. Compared with the commonly used ode45 algorithm, the new algorithm has more computing efficiency with a certain calculation precision.
