An improved DV-hop algorithm for wireless sensor networks
Abstract
Wireless sensor network localization is an important area that attracted significant research interest. This interest is expected to grow further with the wireless sensor network applications. As for localization, there are mainly two types of algorithms: Range-based and Range-free. The Range-based localization algorithms have strict requirements on hardware to obtain precise distance between nodes, thus is expensive to be implemented in practice. The Range-free localization algorithms just use estimated distance and can only achieve high accuracy in ideal scenarios. In this paper, aimed at improving DVHop Algorithm to work well on both uniform and irregular networks, we incorporate the advantage of the Received Signal Strength Indicator (RSSI) method, which is one of the simplest methods among all Range-based algorithms, into the measurement and demonstrate the improved algorithm by large numbers of simulations.
