Capacity calculation method of MF-TDMA and MF-CDMA communication system for high altitude platform stations
Abstract
According to the characteristic of high altitude platform stations (HAPS), the capacity calculation formulas for MF-CDMA and MF-TDMA schemes are deduced with the key factors of user information rate, frequency band available, interference factor, required Eb/I0 and frame efficiency etc. Theory analysis and simulation results indicate that the service type and the required Eb/I0 have a major impact on the capacity of MF-CDMA scheme, and the capacity of MF-TDMA scheme has the relationship with the modulate level and the frame efficiency. A comparison between the two multiple access schemes shows that for voice service the capacity of MF-CDMA schemes is superior to that of MF-TDMA schemes, while for a high threshold of Eb/I0 MF-TDMA schemes has advantage over MF-CDMA schemes in capacity.
