Abstract

The region of interest (ROI) extraction is one of the crucial steps for finger vein recognition. However, there are many challenges for ROI extraction, such as, the low quality finger vein image and the rotation and shift of fingers. Hence, in this paper we propose a new approach to crop the ROI. We first describe the finger contour by a mathematical model, then we detect and correct the rotation image, last ROI is extracted based on the inter-phalangeal joint. Extensive experiments are finally conducted to validate the proposed method.
