Focusing highly squinted SAR data using novel fourth-order nonlinear chirp scaling algorithm
Abstract
Image formation in highly squinted mode synthetic aperture radar (SAR) is limited by image degradations caused by neglecting the high order range-variant filtering required by secondary range compression (SRC). This paper proposes a novel nonlinear chirp scaling algorithm (NCSA), which is an extension of the traditional one. The key of the novel method is adding a fourth-order filtering step to the traditional NCSA, using the method of series reversion (MSR) to derive an accurate range-Doppler domain point target spectrum, and adopting the nonlinear chirp scaling theory to image the data acquired in highly squinted case. Simulation results are presented to validate the proposed algorithm.
