Hybrid packet scheduling algorithm based on a novel OTDM-WDM node architecture
Abstract
In this paper, both optical circulator and Tunable Fiber Bragg Grating (TFBG) are proposed to be introduced into an innovative OPS node architecture based on OTDM-WDM to add/drop time slots or frames. The node architecture provides finer granularity to perform both time-slot and packet switching depending on the scheduling strategies. Based on it, hybrid packet scheduling algorithm is proposed and extensive evaluation show that the packet loss probability can be significantly dropped down comparing to that of the pure OTDM node architecture.
