Abstract

Research focuses on a scheme for distributing bulk data based on locality-awareness. The new novel contributions are as follows. (1) The locality-aware peering strategy where peers can locate nearby neighbors using the network coordinate system without heavy probing is proposed. (2) The requesting strategy makes the node request data pieces from the nearest one among its multiple neighbors. Finally, the new scheme is simulated and compared it with BitTorrent protocol. Results show that the proposed scheme can locate the nodes' nearby neighbors in less than log_MN hops, shorten the neighbor distance, and ease inter-domain network traffic.
