MDSS: Using mobile database technology to implement a mobile P2P system
Abstract
P2P systems are the most popular resource sharing system among PC users in Internet. With the extensive development of 3G techniques, it is possible to extend Internet P2P system to mobile network. One challenge of constructing a mobile P2P system is to share resource among all kinds of users in spite of their different device types, the other is to make transparently data transport while keeps scalability. In this paper, we proposed MDSS, a Mobile Data Sharing System, which supports resource-sharing among different devices (such as mobile phone, PDA, computer system, etc.) in mobile network and Internet. With two-level P2P architecture and asynchronously peer heartbeat, MDSS can process requests and meta-data management in a real-time mode. Moreover, some mobile database techniques such as data distribution, data duplication, and data broadcast are used to enhance the performance of MDSS. Experimental results show that MDDS has a linearly scalability and high performance.
