Abstract

In order to quantitatively analyze the technical progress in terms of capability and price of network products from a micro perspective, and to guide the rational informatization, this study conducts a special research by choosing a typical network product in the market-Ethernet frame switcher as an example. The data collection is based on the variables of the time span, price, and capability, also studied the estimated velocity of this product's technical progress using econometrics analysis method. The case study indicates the price decreases by 5.37% in every 6 months. This quantitative velocity estimate not only shows the influence of network technology progress on the cost of network application, but also shows the guidance on the rational application of network technology products between demand and supply with informatization in the present day.
