Medical Image Compression Using MultiWavelet Transform and MBTC
Abstract
Image compression plays an important role in digital image processing applications such as for image transformation and storage space. The image compression process is about reducing and removing redundant image data so that a digital image file can be effectively sent over a network or can be stored on computer disks with the reduction of data size. In this paper, we proposed image compression using wavelet transform and encoding technique that reduces image data. Multiwavelet Block Tree Coding (MBTC) is an algorithmic technique employed for the encoding of image data for image compression. Peak Signal to Noise Ratio (PSNR) and Mean Square Error (MSE) values are used as an error metric for performance analysis.
