Modeling of Solar Still with Granular Activated Carbon
Abstract
Presently, in all over the World, the need for fresh water is extremely rising. The need will be tremendously high in future and the fresh water resources are getting drained at a rapid rate. So, for meeting the fresh water need, we must entire only depend up the salty water as well as oceanic water resources. Moreover, for meeting energy demand, non-conventional energy resources are necessary. One most excellent choice is to utilize solar energy for water distillation. This research work presents the numerical analysis as well as modelling of a solar still and getting better its effectiveness by means of mixing the still water with granular activated carbon. Simulation Models are done in Matlab software. For calculating a variety of heat fluxes in the still, Matlab code was written, in order to identify the hourly output of still and to find out the effectiveness of the still. Mathematical analysis and diverse characteristics graphs of still were plotted by using Matlab. In order to simulate this model, Simulink tool box is utilized.
