Performance analysis of dynamic spectrum access and a new admission control mechanism in cognitive radio networks
Abstract
The problem of spectrum scarcity can be effectively solved with cognitive radio technology, which can lead to the full utilization of spectrum holes. Most previous researches of cognitive radio were focus on the analysis of access performance under some special networks. In this paper, the access performance in the handoff probability and the blocking probability of secondary users is theoretically analyzed with mandatory priority queuing theory, and the process of dynamic spectrum access in cognitive radio networks is emulated, which further verifies the theoretical results. Based on the above analysis, a new admission control mechanism is proposed. According to the current spectrum resources and the access amount of secondary users, the secondary users trying to access the networks can be adaptively accepted or refused. Two cases should be considered in the paper. One is how to make sure the reasonable access amount of secondary users with a given spectrum efficiency of primary users; The other is how to decide the access condition of secondary users according to the spectrum efficiency of primary users with a given access amount of secondary users. The simulation analysis shows that this scheme can improve the performance effectively.
