Performance improvement of mobile Ad hoc network using particle swarm optimization
Abstract
Improving security and reduction of misbehaving nodes in Mobile Ad hoc Network (MANET) is an important research domain. Misbehavior may seriously degrade the throughput, delivery ratio and delay of the MANET. IEEE 802.11 MAC needs to follow the communication procedure to get fair access to all participating nodes. However, some hosts may not follow the MAC protocol rules causing TimeOut (TO Attack) of MAC frames to prevent from communication. The misbehavior nodes select a small SIFS (SIFS*) and TOCTS (TOCTS*) values, which in turn optimized to get the minimal misbehavior. The particle swarm optimization technique is used to minimize the number of misbehaving nodes in MANET. It is used to increase the throughput, delivery ratio and delay in MANET.
