Query and semantic interpretation of non-deterministic information system
Abstract
In rough sets, information and knowledge is usually represented using information system. Each column in such an information system is identified by an attribute, which describes one aspect of the objects. An object has just one value for a particular attribute. But in some cases such a rigid limitation is far from applications in the real world. A common problem associated with attribute values in information system is that an object has a set of possible values for a particular attribute. In this paper, the semantics of a non-deterministic information system is fully investigated, and a new semantic interpretation for non-deterministic information system is supplemented. A novel binary relation for this interpretation is presented to deal with non-deterministic problem, and applied in query involving values of an attribute with non-deterministic nature. Finally, an example is employed to demonstrate our research result. Analysis of results shows that this approach works effectively in non-deterministic information system and generates rational query results.
