Reduced-reference image quality assessment based on Roberts derivative statistic model of natural image
Abstract
The measurement of Reduced-reference (RR) image quality aims in predicting the visual quality of distorted images with only partial information from the reference images. In this paper, we propose a RR image quality assessment method based on Roberts cross derivative statistic of natural image. The Roberts cross derivative is utilized in extraction of the image's geometric features, which are applied in visual prediction of human beings. The proposed method aims for general-purpose image quality assessment and has relatively low complexity. The experimental results upon image database show that this method is consistent with the subjective assessment of human beings and has a good performance for all distortion types.
