Abstract

Airport runway maintenance is a challenging task, especially during the snowfall period. The snow fall on the runway gives trouble to the pilot to land / take off the plane. Also the cost involved in clearing the snow is comparatively high and it is tough to clear the snowfall every time. The objective of the paper is to detect the snowfall in the runway and the depth of snowfall. Grid Density implementation is used for detection of snowfall. The aerial images of various flight runway are gathered for analysis.
