Abstract

Tamilnadu Archives occupies a unique place in the annals of archival world. Though the history of the Tamil Nadu archives begins from 1909, the history of the records had its origin from 1600 when the East Indian Company was established. The Tamil Nadu Archives holds the records of the Government as well as non Government since 1670, when the Public Department was inaugurated. The printed copies of records of 1600 to 1670 are available in the Tamil Nadu Archives. Annals of the Honorable East India Company.
