Two-cloud Secure Database for Numeric-Related SQL Range Queries with Privacy Preserving and Integrity Auditing
Abstract
Cloud computing mainly relies on sharing computing resources, to be retrieved from Internet via web based tools and applications. Both industries and individuals outsource their database to yield convenient and low-cost, applications and services. Many secure database schemes have been proposed till now in order to provide sufficient functionality for SQL queries. But, all such schemes are vulnerable to privacy leakage to the cloud server. The main reason behind the privacy leakage is that the database is hosted and processed in the cloud server, which is beyond the control of data owner. Those schemes cannot provide sufficient privacy protection against some of the practical challenges such as privacy leakage of statistical properties, access pattern for the numerical range query (“>”, “<”, “<=”, “>=” etc.). Increased number of queries will finally leak more information to the cloud server. To provide privacy preservation to all the numeric-related range queries along with the support for the basic aggregate functions, a novel method is employed consisting of a two-cloud architecture for secure database. Security analysis shows that privacy of numerical information is strongly protected against cloud providers in the scheme. Moreover, to verify that the integrity of the outsourced data is not compromised, integrity auditing is performed.
