Visualization algorithm of realistic terrain based on adaptive multiple-features fusion
Abstract
Data structure of digital elevation model (DEM) is complex in realistic terrain visualization, and it's slow to simulate. In this paper, a visualization algorithm based on adaptive multi-features fusion is proposed. First, the entropy of terrain elevation is adopted. Feature extraction for Real elevation data can generate terrain overall framework. Next, in order to increase high frequency detail, we use the random midpoint displacement algorithm and optimize the fractal parameters. Third, we calculate distance threshold between the viewpoint and the terrain, which corresponds to the level of detail (LOD), so as to achieve the adaptive scheduling of terrain. Finally, we propose an uncertain multi-features fusion algorithm to update terrain characteristics according to uncertainty determinant factor (UDF). Simulation results show that the algorithm can effectively improve the fidelity of terrain and obtain a good rendering efficiency.
