White-light Spectro-Polarimetric imaging for material classification
Abstract
A novel technique for material classification ultilizing Spectro-Polarimetric information is presented. Based on experimental white-light Spectro-Polarimetric CCD camera, we obtain a variety of Spectro-Polarimetric images of natural objects and artificial targets. Compared with traditional images, Spectro-Polarimetric images have much complementary and redundancy information that can be used to easily distinguish different materials. Furthermore, DOLP calculated from Stokes-Muller parameters images can show their advantages in quantization. Therefore, we can draw conclusions that Spectro-Polarimetric detecting is superior to conventional photometric detecting, and it can play an important role in military target identification.
